The Acer Nitro 5 Tiger is a laptop that boasts impressive performance thanks to its Intel Gen 12 processor, the i5-12500H. With 12 cores and 16 threads, this chip outperforms both the Core i7-11800H and the Ryzen 7 5800H. However, the full potential of this processor is not fully realized in the Acer Nitro 5 Tiger due to its limited RAM configuration. While the i5-12500H supports LPDDR5 5200 RAM, the Acer Nitro 5 Tiger is only equipped with DDR4 3200 RAM and only has one 8GB stick. This limits the performance of the chip and it is recommended to upgrade to 16GB of RAM for optimal performance and convenience.
The Acer Nitro 5 Tiger version is evaluated with the following configuration:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-12500H 12 cores 16 threads (4 P-core + 8 E-core)
- Integrated GPU: Intel Iris Xe 80 EU – 640 Shading Units
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB GDDR6
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200MHz (2 slots, up to 32GB)
- SSD: 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe
- Display : 15.6 inches, 1920 x 1080 pixels, 144Hz, 45% NTSC

Screen
The Acer Nitro 5 Tiger boasts a 15.6 inch Full HD IPS display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display has thin bezels, providing a more immersive visual experience for users. The high refresh rate ensures smooth and fast gameplay, making it a great choice for gamers. The Full HD resolution provides clear and detailed visuals, making it suitable for media consumption as well.
The display also has good color accuracy, with a Delta-E value of 2.2. This means that colors on the screen are accurately reproduced, making it suitable for tasks such as photo editing. The display has good viewing angles as well, making it easy to use from different positions.
Acer Nitro 5 Tiger has a peak brightness of 318 nits, which is sufficient for most indoor environments. However, it may not be bright enough for outdoor use in direct sunlight. The display also has good contrast, with a ratio of 1025:1. This means that the display can produce deep blacks and vibrant colors, enhancing the overall visual experience.
It has a good display with a high refresh rate, good color accuracy, good viewing angles, and good contrast. It is suitable for tasks such as gaming and media consumption, but may not be bright enough for outdoor use.
Benchmark
The Acer Nitro 5 Tiger scored lower on the Geekbench 5 test compared to the MateBook D 16 with an i5-12450H processor and Dual Channel LPDDR4 3733 RAM. However, the single-core score and scores measured by Cinebench R23 and CPU-Z were still relatively high. The Core i5-12500H scored 13,464 multi-core and 1683 single-core points in Cinebench R23 and consumed around 70-80W during testing, peaking at 100W.
The RTX 3050 GPU on the Acer Nitro 5 Tiger also performed well, scoring over 63,000 CUDA points on Geekbench 5 and about 5400 points on the 3DMark test, with the GPU score being around 5200 points. These scores are relatively high compared to other laptops with the same configuration.
Gaming performance
The Acer Nitro 5 Tiger performed well, scoring an average of 53 fps on Shadow of The Tomb Raider with High settings, 1080p resolution, and DLSS enabled. The GPU consumed an average of 75-80W during testing, peaking at 100W. In CS: GO, the average fps was around 100-200 with High graphics settings, with a drop to 45fps in smoke scenes.
However, this laptop does have some drawbacks, including its excessively loud fan noise and relatively high temperatures during gaming. The fan noise reached more than 7000 rpm at its highest level, which can be uncomfortable for users. Setting the performance reduction to default resulted in less noise and lower temperatures, but also a significant drop in performance.
Overall, it is a powerful laptop with a strong CPU and GPU, but its limited RAM configuration and loud fan noise are drawbacks that should be considered before purchasing.
